State Owned Telecom Giant BSNL has banned Chinese Vendors Huawei and ZTE from bidding for its Rs 2,000-crore contract for supply of 55 lakh GSM lines for its Northern and Eastern zones. BSNL has confirmed that only three Western vendors — Ericsson, Nokia Siemens and Alcatel Lucent — can participate in the bidding process.

According to UK newspaper The Telegraph, UN Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change’s (IPCC) claim about snow melting on mountain was copied from a Geography’s Student essay which was published in mountaineering magazine.
This is the third goof up made by IPCC which came in to light in last two weeks. In 2007, the IPCC had stated that observed reductions in mountain ice in the Andes, Alps and Africa was caused by global warming and it referred to two papers as the source of the information.

India’s biggest Local Search Justdial is successful in Obtaining an injunction against Infomedia 18 Information portal Askme. Justdial alleged Infomedia for copying up their complete database for their latest Information Portal Askme.in thereby infringing Just Dial’s copyright in its valuable database.
Justice Indermeet Kaur has granted an exparte injunction against Infomedia 18, restraining them from infringing Just Dial’s copyright and from running the website askme.in till the next date of hearing.

A group of Indian Publishers have moved to Newyork district Court against Google Book Settlement’s (GBS 2.0) and filed allegation of copyright violation against Internet Gaint.
Siddharth Arya, the legal counsel for IRRO(The Indian Reprographic Rights Organisation ) said ” Google has scanned millions of books of Indian authors without taking any kind of permission from the author which is a clearattempt to turn copyright law on its head,”

Allahabad High Court upheld the life imprisonment of Constable Tilak Ram awarded to him by sessions court in Meerut on July 30, 2007 for Killing Six Sikhs during 1984 Sikh Genocide.
Tilak Ram was deployed at police station in Baghpat on Nov5,1984 where he killed Six sikhs inside the police station for getting security from the mob who was trying to kill them.
