Here is a roundup of some of the most expensive wall clocks available for purchase and some interesting facts on the history of clocks.

This one is created by James Lea and hand signed. It was reproduced from the original and is a fine replication of the Presentation Banjo Clock. It sells for 2400.00 without the bracket and $2600.00 with. The original Simon Willard Presentation Clock was often presented to someone as a gift on a momentous occasion.

The entire front of the clock is embellished with 23 K gold leaf and will fit in at the most formal of settings. The scene on the lower door of the clock is “The escape of the Constitution” depicted from the famous battle in Boston Harbor during the Revolutionary war.

The Simon Willard’s Improved Timepiece sells for $1800.00 without the mahogany bracket and $2000.00 with it. It is made of solid mahogany and is a reproduction of the original Banjo Clock. Simon Willard, born in Grafton, Massachusetts in 1753 is considered to be the Father of American clock making. Prior to his having patented the eight-day wall clock movement, this particular superior clock had to be imported from Europe, or you could purchase what was known as an American tall clock. Both types of wall clocks were beyond the means of all but the wealthiest early Americans.

Mr. Willard called his clocks “improved timepieces” and took great pride in his superior workmanship on a clock which was of the very best quality keeping accurate time and being a work of art. The eagle finial, side arms and bezel are hand finished case brass. The geometric design is hand painted on the reverse side of the glass exactly as the original clock was.

A young man named Eli Terry began making clocks at the age of 14. He had very little formal education but was a dedicated clock maker who completely transformed the clock making industry. In 1807 Mr. Terry began the process of mass production of clock parts allowing for standardization of clock parts. The Watertown Connecticut factory used waterpower to drive the machinery. Thousands of clocks were made and familiar names such as Seth Thomas, Silas Hoadley and Chancey Jerome.

This is a reproduction of the Pillar and Scroll decorative wall clock which he personally designed and patented in 1812. Originally it sold for $1.00. Seth Thomas bought the rights to make and sell this clock for $.50 each and it became the most widely produced clock of the Nineteenth century. This reproduced clock sells for $2295.00.

McIntosh created a very unique and expensive wall clock called the MCLK12 priced at a mere $2,000.00. A name that is well known for high-end audiophiles such as $15,000.00 classic system and the standalone $7500.00 Integrated tabletop audio system.

Check out this beautiful hand carved wall clock which is created by a master craftsman in the Black Forest of Germany. The list price is $3,830.00.

This beautiful little cuckoo clock contains dancers which revolve on the turntable every hour and every half hour and is constructed of brass mechanical movement with a clock case containing a moving waterwheel and wagoner. It also boasts a delightful mechanical music box which plays two alternating melodies and a cuckoo bird which cuckoos on the hour.

The glass front faceplate reveals dual analog gauges. They resemble the gauges on a normal power amp where we would watch the watts coming from the channels. These meters indicate the time with the left one shows the hours while the right one shows the minutes. This wall clock is sure to draw attention and add interest to any room.

Winter’s a reality every year and you have to keep your home warm. Still, is heating your home centrally the only way to achieve this? Or can you do something naturally that will keep your home warm, won’t leave a carbon footprint and save you money besides? Here are a few natural ways you can keep your home warm this winter.

1. Set Fans To Reverse Mode

Ceiling fans give out cool air when they turn counterclockwise. Set them to twirl clockwise and the colder air gets pushed towards the ceiling, away from the room.

2. Check For Draft Holes

Check your home’s foundation and its walls for draft holes, cracks and flaws which let out hot air and let cold air seep in.

3. Keep Warm

Most of your body heat escapes through your head; wear woolen caps. Wear several layers of clothing to retain body heat. Get some warm socks and gloves and layer blankets to retain heat.

4. Use Candles

Candles are cheap; they give out good light, save electricity, and also let out plenty of heat.

5. Shower Hot

The steam from a hot shower warms you up and also increases your home’s moisture content, keeping the ambient temperature warmer.

6. Clean And Inspect Your Furnace

Your furnace’s blades, motors and filters need to be regularly cleaned and inspected to prevent heat loss and performance efficiency. Test your furnace’s draft hood to prevent leakage of carbon monoxide.

7. Cook Soups And Stews

Heat generated by cooking steam and a baking oven will remain indoors. Steam increases your home’s moisture levels as well, keep you much warmer. Keep your door open after baking, to release heat into the kitchen.

8. Keep The Thermostat Steady

Keep the thermostat at a steady 68°F for an occupied room. Lower it significantly in an unoccupied room, or switch it off completely.

9. Avoid Ventilation Fans

Unless you’re cooking very spicy curry, keep the ventilation fans off. They only take away your home’s heat.

10. Get A Programmable Thermostat

You can preserve energy by letting the heater warm your house just when you need it, and keep the heater off when you’re not at home.

11. Insulate Heaters

If your heater is in an un-insulated basement or garage, cover it with insulation blankets to prevent it from freezing.

12. Get A Warm Mist Humidifier

Get a warm mist humidifier to add moisture to dry air and raise ambient temperature.

13. Insulate Your Chimney With Fiberglass

If you don’t use your fireplace, stuff your chimney with fiberglass insulation to avoid heat loss.

14. Prune Your Landscape

Trees and bushes that are not properly pruned can deposit snow, water and sleet on your roof. This can leak into your home via tiles, holes and roof shingles.

15. Better Insulate Your Home

Your basements and attics could be letting the cold in; put in some extra insulation if required.

16. Get Your Ducts Inspected

Before the cold sets in, get your ducts inspected by a professional. Also take the time to vacuum your heating ducts to ensure smooth running.

17. Screen Your Chimney

If you’re not using your fireplace, put a screen on your chimney to prevent cold water, snow and sleet from getting into the house.

18. Use Heavy Curtains

It makes sense to buy heavy curtains or those that come with insulated backing. Drawn curtains are effective draft blockers over doors and windows. Keep them open on sunny days.

19. Buy A Solar Air Heater

Space heaters run on electricity. Get a solar heater instead and harvest the sun’s energy for heating your home.

20. Close Unused Rooms

Close all rooms other than the ones you live in. A closed room keeps the winter cold that much further away from you. It also restricts air circulation, reducing heat loss.

21. Keep The Garage Door Free Of Ice

Garage doors can crack if you expose them to too much cold. They can let the warmth out. Spread some ice melt or sand near the garage to keep the ice away.

22. Check Your Windows

Make sure all your windows are shut properly, including your storm windows. Check for drafts and cover leaks with plastic wherever you find them.

23. Invest In Shut Off Registers

Do this for the closed rooms so that your heating unit doesn’t pump heat into those rooms. You save money, heat, and enjoy warmth where you want it.

24. Seal Doors

Most doors have a gap at the bottom and at the sides of the frame. Use bits of rubber from old car tires to seal this gap. You can glue the rubber right over your door’s bottom part.

25. Cut Off Water Supply To Your Garden

If winters are bad where you live, there’s no point in keeping the water supply to your garden and garage on.

The article has been written by Kathy for specialty websites like – vanity mirror, artificial flowers, fake plants and lot more

Well, If you’re from India and use Internet or have ever bought anything online then you must be aware of Flipkart.com ( these guys are doing a lot of advertising both online and Television these days)

Now lets talk about past of Flipkart, I am buying from this site from last 3 years, at that time they only used to sell Books – Stuff like mobiles, cameras came after few months. The first time I bought anything online was a book from Flipkart and The experience was awesome. I got the book exactly on third day after placing my order in a very good condition.

I was so impressed that I placed an order of another book next book , and the experience was great. It continued for a time being and suddenly FLIPKART started growing. They added a mobile section, till that time I was a loyal customer of Flipkart so I bought a mobile. It came a week late then they promised. I thought ok Fine, but it made me a bit curious about Flipkart as Flipkart made me used to quick delivery

After Few months , I bought a Kodak digital camera that stopped working in 1 month. I didn’t used it more than 1 or 2 times. I contacted Flipkart , but they DIDN’T COOPERATED at all and asked me to take my Camera to Company repair center that is in Chandigarh, 3-4 hour bus ride from my home . Obviously, I don’t have much time , and my camera is still useless. Had I bought it from Local dealer and paid 100-200 more , I could have get it replaced/repaired Easily.

LESSON LEARNED – FLIPKART ONLY FOCUS ON SELLING PRODUCTS , AFTER THAT IF YOUR PRODUCT GETS ANY FAULT, ITS YOU AND COMPANY. FLIPKART DOESN’T CARE AT ALL

FLIPKART DELETING NEGATIVE REVIEWS FROM THEIR WEBSITE

The latest bad experience I had from Flipkart, when I placed an order of Intex Headphones and got a different headphone from what I have seen in Flipkart Website. And, when I placed a negative review on their website, they deleted it calling it as a service review that they don’t allow

LESSON LEARNED – DON’T BUY ANYTHING EXPENSIVE FROM FLIPKART, BECAUSE IT HAS BECOME TOO BIG TO CARE ABOUT ITS CUSTOMERS AND THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY. INFACT BUY IT FROM YOUR LOCAL DEALERS BECAUSE THEY ARE EASIER TO CONTACT/COMMUNICATE WHEN NEEDED AND PRICE DIFFERENCE IS ALSO NOT MUCH HIGH.

OF COURSE, FLIPKART IS STILL GOOD FOR CHEAP PRODUCTS LIKE BOOKS, BLANK CDs/DVDs ETC BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING MUCH TOO LOOSE.

DARBAR SAHIB also known as HARMANDIR SAHIB and GOLDEN TEMPLE is situated in the AMRITSAR city of PUNJAB.Previously this place was known as the GURU KA CHAK and CHAK RAM DAS as the construction of this place was started bt the fourth guru of Sikhs GURU RAM DAS JI.DARBAR SAHIB is situated in the centre of the holy sarovar.DARBAR SAHIB is having four gates in the four directions which is the symbol showing that this is the holy place is not only for Sikhs but for the people coming from all the directions and all the castes. AKAL TAKHAT SAHIB is built infront of the DARBAR SAHIB,previously this was the place where important decisions were taken by the sikh GURUS, IN the present GURU GRANTH SAHIB is also installed in the AKAL TAKHAT SAHIB. One can also see the some of the weapons of the sikh warriors in the AKAL TAKHAT SAHIB.THOUSANDS of people from all over the world visit this holy place daily. All the sikhs feel very proud of this place contructed by their GURU SAHIB.NO ONE is permitted to go inside with shoes, all has to deposit their footwear outside the GURDWARA SAHIB in the JODA GHAR(place for depositing the footwear),all has to cover their heads before entering the GURDWARA SAHIB,taking the guns or any other weapon inside the gurdwara sahib is also against the rules of this holy place. For entering the gurdwara sahib one has to come down from the marble stairs,on coming down the marble stairs one will enter the PARIKRAMA , while moving in around the SAROVAR(the water tank) a pure feeling come into us.It is also amazing to know that due to the LANGER system started by the SIKH GURUS acc to which all has to sit in a line and have food, this system was started because of showing that everyone is equal in their sight, there is no difference between the poor and the rich for them and their sikhs, more then 1 lakh people have food through this langer system daily in this holi place.one must visit this place in his life atleast once
