5 things an iPad can’t do for you

It has been months since the launch of iPad. And, I think it is the best time to write an article on it because iPad users are now using it from few months and know the limitations of iPad more accurately and precisely then before. Besides being a lighter, slimmer and stylish version of Netbook, iPad can easily satisfy the needs of a common Netbook user, but still iPad has its own limitations too. Here we’ve compiled a list of things which iPads can’t do for you. But before jumping on the list, here are the few caveats, I’ve not used iPad personally and the list I’ve compiled is based on the personal experiences of my friends and colleagues.

Limited memory – No matter what iPad model you choose, every iPad model comes with a finite memory – 16Gb, 32Gb, or 64Gb. It means that you have to work within that memory. There is no way by which you can upgrade the memory of your iPad. So if you want to use iPad as an alternative to store your files then you should think again, because you won’t be able to store that much in it.
No USB ports – Although, this is the era of cloud computing. You can easily store your files on Google docs, esnips and other free or paid file sharing sites. But it doesn’t reduce the importance of USB ports. People need to connect flash drives when they want to transfer data from their one PC to another without internet connections. So, if you are like me, and frequently transfer data from one hard drive to another then iPad is not a good alternative for you.
No camera – The other thing which makes an iPad completely useless is that it doesn’t have an inbuilt camera (webcam). You can’t do video chatting with your friends/family with iPad. This is the biggest reason due to which most of the people are not buying iPads. iPad work well with applications like Skype but that is of no use because you can’t do a video chat with them on Skype.
No Multitasking – Yes you have read correctly iPad can’t do multitasking. It means that you can’t write a document and chat with your friend at the same time. You can’t listen to music and check your email at the same time. This is the biggest reason that iPad is not a good option for professionals.
No HDMI Out – The other thing that sucks about iPad is that there is no way to watch HD videos that you downloaded on your iPad on your laptop or PC. It means that at the maximum only two people can watch a video on iPad at one time.

Not Flexible – Apple has created iPad for its commercial use. You can only run those applications on iPad which you buy or rent from Apple application store. Although, Netbooks and Laptops are not as stylish as iPad but still you can run any application of your choice on them

Virgin Mobiles Reduced Their Call Rates By 50 Percent

Virgin Mobile India has launched a new package for local calls , which will reduce their call rates to half of their current prices. This local calling pack is available for all its GSM subscribers.

By using this local call pack of Rs45, Users will be able to make local calls at the rate of 1 paisa/second. With a validity of 30 days, this pack is accessible across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Orissa, Mumbai and Maharashtra circles.

Madhusudan Mandyam, CEO, Virgin Mobile, India, commented, “Our research shows that youth have a high propensity to talk more and are always on the lookout for innovative budget solutions to address their mobility needs. This pack is specially designed for Indian youth who are on per second tariff, giving them a leeway to make local calls for longer duration without burning a hole in their pockets.”

MTS Launched Wireless Broadband in Jharkhand

Tata Docomo Introduces My Song Service

Tata DOCOMO, the GSM brand of Tata Teleservices, has announced the launch of a new value added service by the name of My Song.

This service would be available to both Prepaid and Postpaid subscribers of TATA DOCOMO and is considered as the reversal of Mobile Ringtone service.

In this Reversal Ring-Tone Service, Instead of listening to the normal ring-tone or to the caller tune set by user, TaTa Docomo Subscriber can listen to the Ringtone of their own choice.

Gurinder Singh Sandhu, head marketing, Tata Docomo, said in a press statement, “When you make a call, you usually have to listen to someone’s caller tune which might not be your taste. This launch is a breakthrough that adds an entertainment value and relevance to the task of waiting for a call to be answered.”

Subscribers can select from different genres which include bollywood hits, regional, international, classical and funny tunes. They can set up to three different songs for calling different people. Users and will be charged 2 paise per second to access the service, while the subscription charges will be Rs 15 for a period of 30 days and an additional Rs 10 per song download for both post paid and pre paid subscribers.

Vodafone Mobile Phones Are Infected By Pre-Installed Virus

According to a statement released by Internet Security Firm Trend Micro. Vodafone’s HTC Magic Android enabled smart phones come with a Pre-installed Malware WORM_SILLY.QT.

The virus was first detected, when an employee of Panda Security, Spanish Anti-virus firm bought this handset from an Vodafone dealer in Spain. According to Spanish website, more than 3000 effected Vodafone Handsets are being used by their customers.

Although, Vodafone has declined all allegations of Pre-installed Virus in their Handsets and said that the infected Handset problem was isolated one.

On the other hand, Trend Micro threat researcher, Ryan Flores, believes that most likely a computer in Vodafone’s production line has been infected by WORM_SILLY.QT. And, because of the worm’s capability to propagate through removable drives, somehow SD cards in a certain batch of smartphones were infected.

Indian Scientists Questions Big Bang Theory

An Indian scientist Ashwini Kumar Lal of India’s Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation and Rhawn Joseph of Northern California’s Brain Research Laboratory have challenged the Big Bang theory by saying that Big Bang theory is not able to give a proper explanation about the creation of the universe.

The research paper of both scientists were released when Geneva’s European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) are in the midst of experiments on the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) recreating conditions of the beginning of the universe.

According to Lal ” Big Bang theory states that the universe was created due to an explosion which has occurred 13.75 billion years ago. But there are complete evidences that there were fully formed distant galaxies at that time as many of the galaxies are more than billion years old at this time. So, how could it be possible? ”

In his paper “Big Bang? A Critical Review”, Lal says: “There is a growing body of evidence which demonstrates the Universe could not have begun with a Big Bang 13.75 billion years ago.

“Indeed, the day may come when it is determined there never was a Big Bang and cosmologists of the future will only gaze back in wonder at how anyone could have believed in a creation event which was refuted by so much contradictory evidence,” he adds.

Japanese Unveiled Humanoid Robot

Japanese Roboticist Hiroshi Ishiguro , Japan’s Osaka University , has successfully created an humanoid robot version of himself. This humanoid robot, can move its rubber skin to laugh and to cry like areal woman by receiving electric signals from the human it is being modeled on.

Ishiguro controls his mechanical doppelganger remotely, through his computer, using a microphone to capture his voice and a camera to track his face and head movements.

When Ishiguro speaks, the android reproduces his intonations and when he tilts his head, the android follows suit.

A woman after looking at her robotic version said “I felt, I was meeting my twin sister.”

Ishiguro didn’t gave any timeframe about when such rotos would be available int he market, But he predicted that the copies of humanoid robot would be sold at around 10 million yen (110,000 dollars)

Internet Explorer Losing Market Share in India

According to recent Study done by Irish Metrics Company Statcounter, Microsoft Internet Explorer is steadily losing its market share in India and other parts of world in the browser war against – Firefox , Opera and Google Chrome.

According to Report, The percentage of PC’s in India using Internet Explorer as browsers have dropped from 70% in 2008 to 51% in 2010.

Whereas in Europe, The market share has dropped three time more than usual rate basically because the company was forced to mandate a ballot screen by EU in its Windows 7 operating system.

The main reason behind the decline in Market share is low security, Slow connectivity and limited features.

The major rival browsers – Firefox and Google Chrome are experiencing a steady Growth in almost all parts of the world and especially in Europe.

Worldwide IE has a market share of about 55% followed by Firefox’s 31%, Chrome at 7% and Safari at about 4% currently.
