The fire and Smoking incidents in Tata’s NANO now seems like a never ending story. After few incidents of fire and smoke in NANO last year, a brand new NANO catches fire on the first day.

The incident happened in Mumbai with Satish Sawant, software employee who himself gifted a NANO on his birthday last saturday.

Savant told – ” After 45 minutes we took the car delivery from showroom, The car caught fire”

Savant bought the LX model of NANO, which is the most expensive model of NANO , cost around 2.9 Lakhs.

Savant told ““Minutes later, she forced me stop the car on the highway and get the vehicle checked. As we got off the car, we saw smoke from the engine. A good samaritan helped my wife and son get off the car. As we got off the car, it was engulfed by fire,”

The spokesman of Tata said ” “The earlier cases of smoke and fire were due to a faulty switch in the car’s steering column for which we have comprehensively checked all the Nano cars that are on road”

Company also said ” This is a unique case and does not mean there are any technical faults in the car and company is not planning to launch an another round of precautionary checks of all NANO cars of this batch”

Nevertheless, Tata Motor sent a letter to Savant saying ‘inconvenience is regretted’ and they have offered to reimburse the entire amount or give a brand new car
