The ipl auction 2011 that held recently in Banglore, 10 franchises bided for 350 players. The main highlight of the auction was the money offered by the franchises for the indian players. Gautam Gambhir left-handed indian opening batsman was brought by the kolkata knight riders for $2.4million which is just more than quarter of the budget for the whole squad.Yousuf pathan and Robin utthapa were brought for $2.1million by kolkata knight riders and Pune respectively. Rohit sharma was taken by Mumbai Indians for $2 million.7 Out of the top 10 maximum paid cricketers for the coming season of the ipl are Indians that shows the passion of the franchises for the Indian youngsters. On the other hand Indian formal captain Saurav ganguly remained unsold. His name was not even in the list of those players that was given by the franchises for the re-auction. Big guns like Sanath Jayasuriya, Brian lara, Chris gayle the captain of West Indies, Mark Boucher and a number of english players also remained unsold in the auction that shows the business nature of ipl. South African Captain GREME SMITH and English superstar Kevin Peterson also contracted for very less amount because of the doubt of their avaibility in whole ipl. In a high-profile auction, where Bollywood stars and corporate bigwigs were locked in a bidding war, In the fourth edition of the T20 league , each team will play seven matches at home, and seven away. Each side has nine opponents and will play five of those at home and away and will play two at home only, and will play the remaining two away only. This will produce a total of seventy league matches.

Australian Cricket Players to shun IPL3?

According to media reports from Australian Newspapers “‘The Age”, Aussie captain Ricky Ponting and his teammates may take a decision of not to participate in latest season of IPL ( Indian Premier League) which is scheduled to start from March 12,2010. According to Report, Aussie players are worried about their security after political party Shiv Sena had said that they will not allow any Australian Player to play in Maharashtra, to retaliate against the racial attacks on Indians in Australia.

Around 30 Australian Players have to play from various teams in this league. Australian Player Pil Hughes said ” I want to play in IPL but really worried about the issue of safety. I am going to attend the players auction which will be next week and see what happens.”

Australia captain Ricky Ponting, who is contracted with Kolkata Knight Riders, made it clear that the players would demand safety assurances before leaving for India.

Chief executive of the Australian Cricketers’ Association Paul Marsh said ACA was concerned with the development.

“The ACA is concerned any time there is a specific threat made against Australian cricketers,” he said.

Kings XI Punjab Yet to Make any Profit From IPL

Kings XI Punjab CEO Anil Srivatsa on Friday Said “Most IPL teams have not made any Profit from IPL (Indian Premiere League) and Kings XI Punjab is one from them. Sponsors have made investments in Kings XI Punjab and it will take time to reap the benefits”

Anil Srivatsa also added “The Franchisee cost of Rs. 350 Crores (USD76 million ) which they had committed to BCCI for Kings XI Punjab for time span of Ten years , and are expecting break even Point by 2011″. According to Srivatsa, Shifting of venues of matches to South Africa increased the cost burden as most of the sponsors were not interested to sponsor matches in South Africa.

Kings XI Punjab Senior vice-president Arivnder Singh said ” We are spending 70-80 crores on Marketing each year and paying 30-31 crores to our players. We are doing negotiation with 7-8 companies from FMCG and Telecom sectors to sign up the sponsorships for IPL this year”.

KXIP, is owned by Bollywood actress Preity Zinta and industrialist Ness Wadia, and current Sponsors of Team are Fly Emirates, Pepsi, Gulf oil, Reebok and UB.

Yuvraj Singh would be Leaving Kings XI Punjab

Yuvraj singh is Planning to Leave Kings XI Punjab . Yuvi takes this decision after a formal announcement of change of captaincy of Kings XI Punjab because of which Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara will be captain the Kings XI Punjab for IPL 3.

Team owners are still silent about the decision. Ness wadia and Preity Zeinta owners of Kings XI Punjab was not available for Comment.

Coach Moody, who is currently associated with the Perth-based Western Australia team, chose not to comment. “He in the midst of a match and he will not comment on Kings XI Punjab issue,” a Western Australia Cricket Association spokesman said.
