Shahbaz Sharif, chief minister of Punjab Province of Pakistan has created a buzz in Pakistan politics by making a statement that Punjabi Taliban (terrorists) should not carry out any attacks in Punjab. The political leaders and publish of Pakistan is stunned, as this statement clearly implies that Taliban can continue their activities in the rest of country.

The chief minister, Shahbaz Sharif, also said that the terrorism in Pakistan is the result of the wrong policies of Musharraf regime and the country was now paying a heavy price for those policies.

Anyhow, The statement has created a lot of buzz in blogosphere too and has become the hottest topic to discuss on Pakistani forums.

Kings XI Punjab Yet to Make any Profit From IPL

Kings XI Punjab CEO Anil Srivatsa on Friday Said “Most IPL teams have not made any Profit from IPL (Indian Premiere League) and Kings XI Punjab is one from them. Sponsors have made investments in Kings XI Punjab and it will take time to reap the benefits”

Anil Srivatsa also added “The Franchisee cost of Rs. 350 Crores (USD76 million ) which they had committed to BCCI for Kings XI Punjab for time span of Ten years , and are expecting break even Point by 2011″. According to Srivatsa, Shifting of venues of matches to South Africa increased the cost burden as most of the sponsors were not interested to sponsor matches in South Africa.

Kings XI Punjab Senior vice-president Arivnder Singh said ” We are spending 70-80 crores on Marketing each year and paying 30-31 crores to our players. We are doing negotiation with 7-8 companies from FMCG and Telecom sectors to sign up the sponsorships for IPL this year”.

Punjab Government inviting Bids for 10 Mini Hydel Projects

PEDA(The Punjab Energy Development Agency) has invited bids for development of 10 Mini Hydel projects on the upper Bari Doab canal system (UBDC) on Tuesday.

The project would be given on the Build, Operate and Own (BOO) basis under NSE-2006 policy.

According to PEDA ” The collective power generated by these hydel plants would be 84.25 MW.”

PEDA also told that Punjab has developed a technology to produce electricity for the flowing of rivers and is aiming to generate 200 MW of electricity by next financial year and would try to get a subsidy package from Central Government for producing electricity in this sector.

Punjab Going to Adopt Health Care Model of Tamil Nadu

Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal asked officials to create a report on the feasibility to adopt health Care Model of Tamil Nadu which is the most recognized and successful state health model in the Country. Badal has asked official to implement all recommendations in Time Bound manner

This decision was taken on the basis of recommendations made by review committee National Institute of Health & Family Welfare (NIHFW) for the operations of the healthcare institutions functioning under the Punjab State Health System Corporation (PHSC).

According to Report, amil Nadu Medical Services Corporation Ltd (TNMSCL) supports the government by helping in arrangement of High Quality Drugs and surgical items in Timely Manner for around 11,000 institutions, which includes all medical teaching institutions, secondary-level hospitals, primary health institutions, ESI hospitals, panchayat union dispensaries, prisons, maternity institutions and local bodies medical facilities.

The committee also recommended PHSC to Provide Free health services to all BPL patients.

Punjab Government Going To Establish IT Park in Rajpura

Today , Punjab Government took a major decision of establishing a Infomational Technology Park over an area of 1276 acres at Rajpura.

The Decision was taken at High Level Meeting in Chandigarh by Chief Minister of Punjab Prakash Singh Badal. Badal also gave approval for acquisition of common land at six villages in Sehra, Pabra, Sehri, Takhtu Majra, Akri and Akar for the setting up of Informational Technology Park.

According to Report , The Park would be house of various Multi-National Companies operating in Business Process Outsourcing, Knowledge Process Outsourcing, Legal Process Outsourcing and Engineering Process Outsourcing.

Increase of Swine Flue Cases in Haryana and Punjab

With sudden Dip in mercury levels in various parts of Haryana and Punjab there has been a sudden increase in cases of Swine flue in Punjab and Haryana.

According to Heath officials ” Cold Waves in Region has made the H1N1 virus strong and contagious. Due to Which People has become more Prone to it”.

According to Report, 164 people were tested positive for H1N1 in Punjab and more than 1000 people were tested positive in Haryana.
