AlpsAccording to UK newspaper The Telegraph, UN Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change’s (IPCC) claim about snow melting on mountain was copied from a Geography’s Student essay which was published in mountaineering magazine.

This is the third goof up made by IPCC which came in to light in last two weeks. In 2007, the IPCC had stated that observed reductions in mountain ice in the Andes, Alps and Africa was caused by global warming and it referred to two papers as the source of the information.

But according to The Telegraph, The report was copied from the essay of geography student who was studying for a master’s degree at the University of Bern in Switzerland that quoted interviews with mountain guides in the Alps.

The earlier goof-ups of IPCC includes the warning that Himalayan glaciers will melt by 2025 due to global warning which was based on an article written by a scientist from Jawahar Lal Nehru University in Delhi and the warning that 40 percent of Amazon rain forest will be wiped out due to Global warming
